House JMN
Kotlina Kłodzka, PolandArchitecture of Silence and Light. In a world overflowing with stimuli, the JMN House becomes a manifestation of architectural tranquility. It is not just a building – it is a precisely defined framework for everyday life, where the austerity of form meets the softness of nature.
Dialogue with the Surroundings. The house’s distinctly horizontal form seems to rise from the earth, celebrating the tranquility that comes from simplicity. The dark, monochromatic surfaces of the facade, clad in slats of charred wood, do not compete with the surroundings; they provide a deep, elegant backdrop. Every line is purposeful, and every division stems from the pursuit of absolute harmony.
Glass that Blurs Boundaries. Here, the boundary between “inside” and “outside” is merely conventional. The monumental glazing acts as a lens, allowing the landscape to enter and making it an integral part of the interior. The living room becomes the garden, and the garden becomes the living room. Daylight, wandering across minimalist surfaces, creates a vibrant spectacle of shadows that change with the rhythm of the day and the seasons.
Sincerity of Material: The architecture in this project speaks the language of truth. The touch of cool metal, the texture of plaster and wooden facades, and the smoothness of glass create a sensory narrative of quality and durability. This is a space that doesn’t demand attention, but captivates with detail – a precise combination of materials that speaks to a craftsmanship approach to design.
A Refuge: The interior is a place created for celebrating moments. Open spaces invite you to breathe, and intimacy opens up to the geometric frames of the surroundings. This architecture allows you to slow down, find balance, and appreciate the beauty hidden in its pure, uncluttered form.
Layout: The existing building, intended for redevelopment, is located on a steeply inclined hillside. The entrance and driveway to the plot from the lower part of the plot are used to conceal a car on the underground level. Access to the front door via picturesque stairs surrounding the building allows you to commune with the greenery of the garden. Terraces on various levels of the house allow for semi-private use of the building’s exterior.
